Cutting sizes approach?

Standard

Using standard cutting sizes focuses on stock that comes in predefined dimensions. This approach makes planning and production faster and more predictable because setup is minimized, nesting is more efficient, and material costs stay consistent. When you rely on standard sizes, you reduce waste and simplify inventory and scheduling. Custom sizes add extra tool changes, longer setup, and higher costs and lead times, so they’re used only when a nonstandard dimension is truly required. A mixed approach can work in some cases, but for a typical cutting plan the standard sizes route offers the best balance of speed, cost, and consistency.
